Harvest Time: Making Flour

At Harvest time, it is important to think about where our food comes from and appreciate and share all that we have. This week, we have each had a go at making flour with a pestle and mortar, some wheat grains and a sieve. We still have quite some way to go before we have enough to make a loaf of bread - but we'll get there!

It has made us value not only the farmers who grow our food, but also the people who have designed and who operate the machinery that turn crops into things we can use - as it means that we don't have to do the physical labour ourselves!

We think we might eat a bit less cake if we had to make the flour like this every time, though...
