Ofsted Inspection Report
We are pleased to be able to share with you the final report following the school Ofsted inspection in March 2020.
A new Ofsted framework came into place in September 2019. Changes place a greater emphasis on providing a knowledge-based curriculum where the measure of progress is based on children remembering more and leadership of subjects has an increased profile. Reading is given a high priority and safeguarding remains essential. Due to the short time that the new inspection regime had been in place prior to the inspection, our school, and many others, saw a change in their grade because there had not been enough time to demonstrate the effect of actions taken.
We continually evaluate the school so that we know where we are and what we need to do to improve. Ofsted agreed with all the judgements that we had made in advance of the inspection and at the time of inspection judged the school to be requiring improvement in all areas.
We are very proud that the report recognises many strengths in the school including:
-
Relationships between pupils and staff are extremely supportive within this very small school.
-
The new staff team ensure that the happiness and success of each child is at the heart of the school.
-
Pupils say that they feel safe and are well looked after.
-
Leaders have improved the mathematics curriculum.
-
The English leader has recently introduced a new reading comprehension programme.
-
Subject leaders have created new ambitious plans for improving the curriculum.
-
The curriculum helps pupils understand how to stay safe when online and when outside school.
-
Pupils with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND) work well with their peers.
-
Leaders are taking effective steps to improve behaviour across the school.
