Home Learning

Homework will now be posted on here each week on Monday and it will be checked the following Monday (discussing the homework/ doing a spelling test/ doing the mental maths challenges)

Each week, there will be a main homework activity (find in 'Attachments' below). This will often be research-based so that it can be completed virtually. The research will be evidenced through a class activity or discussion.

Every week your child will have a set of spellings to practice at home (find in 'Attachments' below.) We will cover the rules in class but they must do daily practice at home too. In 'Attachments', you will find:

  • A spelling overview for the whole year for each year group
  • The spelling list for the week for each year group
  • A spelling dictation activity for each year group. Encourage your child to consider the context in these dictations as they are sometimes set homophones (e.g. eight or ate)

Purple Mash will also be used for spelling practice. A quiz will be set for the children's weekly spellings in the '2Do' section.

Every day, your child should be reading and recording this in their reading record (parent signatures required).

Every day, you child should be practicing mental maths (Superhero or Maths Passport targets). (*Not started yet. Please practice times tables in the meantime!*)
